As you are probably aware by now, the Ford Fusion, much like all of the Ford sedans that were previously available are retiring. We already know that the Ford Focus is being downsized into a crossover-type vehicle. It turns out that we now know what’s happening with the Fusion models. You’ll have to read the information below to find out.
As it turns out, the Fusion is being reimagined as a small wagon-sized SUV. In about two years, the model will begin to live on as a rugged and lifted wagon to compete with the Subaru Outback.
It may not be an official image, but someone with arguably way too much time on their hands doctored up a Photoshop version of what this new vehicle could be expected to look like. As you can tell, it appears to a merging of a wagon and a crossover. This specific design is based heavily on the Ford Edge, but it’s curves give it a bit more thrill.
Surprise… It’s the New…. Ford Fusion???
This transformed Fusion would also have to go up against other segment rivals like the Audi A4 Allroad, the Buick Regal TourX, Volkswagen’s Golf Alltrack, and the Volvo V60 Cross Country.
While it’s pretty sad to see Ford’s car lineup in the U.S. being reduced to basically the Mustang, buyers interested in this type of design may be waiting with open arms for a car like this.
On an International note, most people don’t know about the Mondeo. With all of this news, it will be interesting to see what happens to the European counterpart to the Fusion, which happens to be a successful sedan in the market. We already know a refresh was in the pipeline, but after that, the model’s future is certainly unclear at this point.
Throughout all of this Ford news, we’ll be sitting back and waiting to see what happens next. In the meantime, we can’t wait to hear what Ford will end up turning the Taurus into.
